Background

The Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) "Durmish Aslano" is an institution founded in 1969, with a rich history and a clear mission to represent and promote the interests of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in Kosovo. After its reconstitution in 2001, the organization has continuously worked to preserve and advance Roma culture, traditions and language.

Current Vision and Mission

Vision: To become a recognized center of influence and promotion of the culture of the Roma community, becoming a bastion of strength and promotion of the cultural and spiritual values of our community.

Mission: Through a commitment to cultural documentation and innovative media, we aim to ensure a relevant and ongoing presentation of the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Roma community, helping to raise and strengthen awareness of Roma culture and identity to ensure a more inclusive society. fair and equal.

Main Departments

3.1. Roma Theater "Nexhip Menekshe

- Organizes specific performances for the International Day of the Roma Community and for children with content that reinforces the message of Roma culture and identity.
- Develops educational programs for children to promote Roma heritage and identity in a healthy and appropriate way for different age groups.

3.2. Roma concert

- Organizes concerts focused on Roma dances and songs, representing the spiritual heritage of the community.
- Creates special events to raise awareness of Roma spiritual heritage, including informative and educational workshops

3.3. Cultural Documentation

- Distributes and documents important materials for the cultural heritage of the Roma community to preserve and promote Roma culture, language and tradition.
- Creates an online platform for the documentation and distribution of cultural and historical materials of the Roma community for easy access to those interested.

3.4. Advocacy

- Develops an advocacy campaign for the Roma language to ensure its recognition and respect as part of the cultural heritage and identity of the Roma community.
- Organizes Roma language training programs to encourage more community individuals to learn, preserve and promote their language.

3.5. Media

- Radio "Romano Avazo": Increases the number of debates for advocacy, lobbying and permitting of local and central policies. It organizes thematic programs and through carefully edited information aims to ensure massive community participation.

Goals and Strategic Objectives

The "Durmish Aslano" organization has defined strategic goals and objectives focused on promoting culture, advancing awareness, advocacy and strengthening internal capacities.

Partnerships and Collaborations

International donors, embassies and organizations and institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are integral parts of the functionalization. The organization is part of the Network of cultural organizations, the Network of youth organizations, Civikos and has strategic partnerships with several other organizations at the local and international level.

Through these activities and goals, "Durmish Aslano" aims to remain an inspiration and protector of cultural heritage and Roma identity, contributing to social awareness and empowerment of the community as a whole.
